I was reading some of my old writing last night and dear GOD does it blow. The dialogue is wooden, descriptions are trite, and just... ew. Ew ew ew.
I know I've improved a great deal, but I'm not sure how it happened. Practice, maybe? Although I'm wondering if my decision to put the characters first has something to do with it. I decided a while ago that my first obligation as writer is to the characters, and that belief makes writing, for me at least, more rewarding. Okay, that's not quite the right phrasing but I can't think of anything better right this second.
As an aside, go find Joe Hill's Heart-Shaped Box, it's a good yarn.
I wish I could have contributed something to Wang Day, but alas, I cannot draw good peectures. I suppose I could have taken a picture of my male cat, but that would just be weird. And wrong.
....yes...yes it would indeed.
*token awkward silence cough*
Any dang way, you'll watch me eh? Well then i'm afraid i'ma gonna watch you back, mostly for tasteful strong bad and Weebl and Bob image useage. |B
